Local Lead 3-Day Coach

Home-Office Based in Boston — Full-Time Regular

Event 360 is seeking a dynamic and driven individual for a Local Lead Coach position supporting the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, a 60-mile walk event raising funds and awareness for Susan G. Komen. The Komen 3-Day Series will take place in multiple locations across the United States and is a signature peer-to-peer event for Komen raising critical monies for the fight against breast cancer.

Summary

The Lead 3-Day Coach is responsible for recruitment of walkers, community building and engagement through oversight of local programs and events for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day series. You’ll lead registration and awareness events, manage participant programs, oversee temporary local staff and work closely with participants to meet or exceed walker recruitment, retention and fundraising goals for the Komen 3-Day. This is a home-office based, full-time, exempt position reporting to the Local Operations Director.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Complete ownership of the programs you’re tasked with, from planning to execution
  • Create and implement an approved strategic plan and events calendar to help meet aggressive recruitment and fundraising goals
  • Research, list development and outreach to local businesses, organizations, walkers and influencers in the 3-Day market
  • Partnership development with in-market businesses to increase awareness in the local market
  • Enthusiastic execution of all local events, including small grassroots experiences directed by the 3-Day’s marketing agency, CSM LeadDog
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key participants including team captains and top fundraisers
  • Reactivate in-market team captains and last year’s participants
  • Grow, manage and maintain the local market’s Facebook page
  • Promote your event(s) and special offers via social media
  • Support the CSM Public Relations as needed for local media opportunities
  • Meet and track to weekly KPIs
  • Supporting coaching efforts by responding to phone, text and email questions and see all follow-up through to completion in a timely manner
  • Exceed expectations with each participant interaction
  • Think outside the box to best support participants to reach their goals
  • Pull and analyze data to determine the best way to maximize outreach to participants and meet recruitment and fundraising goals
  • Hire, train and oversee local temporary Field Marketing Coordinators needed to help execute local activities and programs
  • Host local activities that help meet registration & fundraising goals for the project
  • Contribute to a positive teamwork environment by offering help, sharing successful strategies and lending your voice and knowledge on team calls
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and polish when working with both external (client, partners, participants, donors, etc.) and internal (co-workers) customers
  • In addition to community building and engagement and execution of local events, the Programs & Local Events Coach will assist with some (but not all) of the following areas:
    • Partnership & Outfitter programs
    • Training Walk Leader program
    • Team Captain outreach support
    • Community involvement
    • Media opportunities

Qualifications

  • You have a passion for the Komen 3-Day and its participants
  • Prior Event 360 or 3-Day walker/crew experience preferred
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, recruitment, volunteer management or a related field
  • Partnership development experience a plus
  • You have 2+ years of experience hiring, training and supervising staff or volunteers in accomplishing project goals
  • You have extraordinary communication skills which motivate people and inspire them to act
  • You are computer-savvy: proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and have experience with Convio and Salesforce
  • You are comfortable sharing personal stories related to the cause to gain trust, instill confidence and gain buy-in from prospective and registered participants
  • You have a can-do attitude and are willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed
  • You can motivate someone who thinks participation is out of their reach
  • You have experience managing and curating a social media page
  • You don't run the other way when an Excel spreadsheet is dropped in your lap and you know what a pivot table is
  • You are resourceful and seek out solutions to best address participant inquiries
  • You’re a master troubleshooter who can handle a variety of technical challenge that can — and will — arise!
  • You are not afraid to speak up and share suggestions for improvement and efficiency

  • The employee spends 40% of their time out of office at local events, outreach initiatives and in meetings
  • May experience extended periods of time sitting down or standing through meetings and presentations
  • May require longer periods of standing/walking, especially while on-event
  • May be asked to operate and drive event vehicles

  • Normal weekly workload is around 40 hours, but will occasionally require long hours including evening and/or weekend work, especially during recruitment and event season
  • When on event, employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions
  • Approximately 20% travel outside of market area to staff events managed by Event 360

Candidate must furnish own cell phone and have access to reliable transportation including ability to transport event materials. Candidate must be able to work remotely.

Temporary Field Marketing Coordinator

Home-Office based in Michigan, Twin Cities, Seattle or San Diego; Full-Time Temporary (16-24 weeks)

Komen 3-Day, a 60-mile walk event raising funds and awareness for Susan G. Komen. The Komen 3-Day Series will take place in multiple locations across the United States and is a signature peer-to-peer event for Komen raising critical monies for the fight against breast cancer.

The ideal candidate is an energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards, work ethic, and an appropriate professional image. Ability to conduct outreach events, be an enthusiastic spokesperson for the 3-Day, engage with strangers, and possesses an eagerness to convert interested leads into registered participants are key to success in this role. Strong results orientation and presentation skills are a must, as is an ability to work enthusiastically in a constantly changing environment. The successful candidate possesses the capacity to think strategically coupled with the abilities to excel operationally. This is a home-office based, temporary full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Local Lead Coach.
