Fracking Well Newcomb Well - lightRelatively new drilling technology -- high-volume, deep-shale horizontal hydraulic fracturing -- now makes it possible to reach natural gas reserves that underlie much of eastern Ohio.

As this technology has ramped up nationwide, communities have seen a corresponding increase in air emissions, water contamination, and very serious problems associated with the disposal of horizontal fracking waste fluids.

Join us in saying NO to fracking.

Urge the state of Ohio to call a "time out" on fracking. We need to:

  • better know the science and risks of fracking;
  • have the right laws in place to protect human health and our environment; and
  • account for the costs to our communities.

Dear [Decision Maker],

Relatively new drilling technology now makes it possible to reach natural gas reserves that underlie much of eastern Ohio.

The use of fracking -- high-volume, hydraulic fracturing with horizontal drilling to access deep shale formations -- requires millions of gallons of fresh water, acres of land per well pad, and the use of undisclosed chemicals.

As this relatively new drilling technology has ramped up nationwide, communities have seen a corresponding increase in air emissions, water contamination, and very serious problems associated with the disposal of horizontal fracking waste fluids.

We need to:

- better know the science and risks of fracking;
- have the right laws in palce to protect human health and our environment; and
- account for the costs to our communities.

Thus, I urge you and the Ohio's General Assembly to put in place a "time out" on fracking.

Sincerely,
