Save Ohio's Energy Efficiency Standard

The cheapest and cleanest form of energy is the energy you never use.

insulation workerThat’s what makes FirstEnergy’s latest assault on energy efficiency so troubling.

Behind closed doors, FirstEnergy is trying to ram through a radical reversal to Ohio’s energy efficiency standard.

They are putting their shareholders ahead of families and small businesses and chasing record profits instead of lower electric bills for customers.

Tell Governor Kasich to take a stand. Tell him to stand up for families and small businesses by protecting Ohio’s common sense energy efficiency standard.

Energy efficiency is a common sense solution that saves money, creates jobs, and protects our environment. Governor Kasich has recognized this, calling energy efficiency a "no-brainer." He even named energy efficiency a "pillar" of his administration's new energy policy.

But FirstEnergy’s assault on energy efficiency threatens to topple that energy pillar. If that happens, FirstEnergy may make more money, but Ohio will lose jobs and consumers will pay more.

These standards have already saved Ohioans millions of dollars on their energy bills. And as a recent report shows, Ohio’s efficiency sector employs more than 10,000 people and contributes more than $2 billion to our economy each year.

Don’t let FirstEnergy leave Ohioans out in the cold this winter.

Use our easy form to send an email to Governor Kasich today urging him to stand up to FirstEnergy and the job losses and higher utility bills their selfish attack will cause.

Protect Ohio's Energy Efficiency Standard

Dear [Decision Maker],

Like many Ohioans, I'm worried about my energy bill going up as winter approaches. That's why I'm especially troubled by FirstEnergy's latest effort to undermine Ohio's energy efficiency standard.

Energy efficiency is a common sense solution that saves money, creates jobs, and protects our environment. You, yourself, have recognized this, calling energy efficiency a "no-brainer." To your credit, you even named energy efficiency a "pillar" of your administration's new energy policy.

But FirstEnergy's surprise attack threatens to topple your energy efficiency pillar. Don't let them get away with it!

I urge you to fight for Ohio's families and small businesses by standing up to FirstEnergy's attempt to increase my energy bills.

In just a few short years, energy efficiency programs have saved Ohioans more than $100 million. On top of that, Ohio's energy efficiency sector employs more than 10,000 people and contributes more than $2 billion to our economy each year. See the report at http://goo.gl/YTtaY.

This spring, you worked to expand Ohio's energy efficiency standard to promote development of cogeneration technologies. Thanks to your leadership, Ohio's is poised to reap the economic and environmental benefits of this critical resource.

But if FirstEnergy gets its way, this signature piece of your energy plan and its economic promise will be lost. And thousands of Ohio jobs and millions of dollars of consumer savings will be snuffed out.

Don't let FirstEnergy put shareholder profits ahead of lower energy bills for Ohioans. Don't let this single company destroy your sensible, pro-jobs and pro-consumer energy "pillar."

Tell FirstEnergy to grow -- not gut -- America's true first energy choice: energy efficiency.

Sincerely,
