Welcome to My Personal Page
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers because more than 92% of patients will die within 3 to 6 months of diagnosis. I know this from personal experience because in 2010 my husband, Carl Walker, lost his battle from with pancreatic cancer. However I continue his FIGHT by raising awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research at Ottawa Hospital.
Immunotherapies, which harness the body's own immune system to attack cancer, offer new hope because they have been used successfully to treat other cancers. Researcher, Dr. Carolina Ilkow, and her lab are investigating using oncolytic virus vaccines and other immune-boosting therapies to treat pancreatic cancer.
I am running to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer research and funds to purchase a new Fluorescent Microscope for Dr. Ilkow’s lab to track how cancer cells or patient-derived tumour tissues get infected using the oncolytic viruses for treatment.
Please consider donating to help purchased the Fluorescent Microscope for Dr. Ilkow’s lab which will support the lab's research and give pancreatic cancer patients HOPE to win their battles.
The Canadian Air Force has confirmed that it will be sending a CT-155 Hawk for a flyby at the start of the 10K Run on May 25 in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Purple Team,
Thank you for your supporting of me and the goal of ending pancreatic cancer.
