I may have Parkinson's but Parkinson's doesn't have me.
My husband Ross Tuddenham continues to work hard at ‘living well with Parkinson’s’ and you give him the inspiration because of your overwhelming and long term caring and support. It is heart-warming and provides him the fuel to lead each day with a tremendously positive attitude and infectious smile. He is determined this year to return to the tennis court and golf course.
This is the 11th anniversary of PIPR (Partners Investing in Parkinson’s Research) and our 9th year participating in Ottawa Race Weekend, walking with family, friends and our PIPR family to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research at The Ottawa Hospital. We are a lively bunch with compassion, determination and a firm resolve that Parkinson’s is not going to rob the enjoyment of life.
Last year we surpassed $1.32 million raised. PIPR has enabled the researchers to leverage additional research funding, recruit some of the world’s leading scientists, established deep brain stimulation program to patients in Ottawa and more importantly gives the much needed hope to those living with this progressive disease.
This year we have been saddened by the loss of our
dear friend and neighbour - John Hamilton.
Shortly after John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s he and Jane reached out and we began to share in this unexpected journey with them. John and Ross were old friends, new neighbours and now shared a common goal. Not only did John continue to live life to the fullest, he also chose to jump in and become involved. He understood the importance of supporting Parkinson’s research in Ottawa and soon became a Director on the Advisory Board of the Parkinson’s Research Consortium and a generous donor.
John was an important part of our PIPR family and will be dearly missed. John and Jane have walked with us for four years in Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and Jane was the first to sign up with us again this year. She is running for a reason.
A million thanks.
Kim and Ross
