5 years of running for the NICU!
Dec 11, 2013 will forever be a day that changed our family. Brody was born at 25weeks & 5 days, 100 days before his due date. At the time we were told he would have a 50% chance of simply surviving. We had no way of knowing what survival might look like and the odds were stacked against us in so many ways. After 98 tumultuous days in the NICU at the Ottawa General, Brody came home a healthy, strong little boy.
Today he is 5 years old. He loves running, swimming, biking (even the combination as a triathlete), downhill skiing, music, and art. He is so inquisitive and creative and never stops asking questions and making us laugh. Since day 1, he has never backed down from a challenge and isn't afraid to keep up.
This video I made for his first birthday showing what life is like with a micropreemie: http://youtu.be/dppxNe2x4sc
We are in our fifth year of running for the Ottawa Hospital Foundation as we know the impact this hospital can have on every family that passes through its doors.
