Every dollar goes to our Centre!
The Bridge Engagement Centre (The Bridge) is a community-based research team located in downtown Ottawa where the city's most vulnerable residents co-create sustainable solutions to overcome poverty, isolation, homelessness and substance use. Members participate in every phase of the projects at the Bridge, including participation in the Centre's governance body. All projects are led and supervised by Dr. Smita Pakhale.
The overarching aim of The Bridge and its projects are to improve the quality of life of those who are homeless, at-risk of homelessness and/or are People Who Use Drugs (PWUD). By providing meaningful engagement and using our holistic approach, we found that people are not just reducing or quitting tobacco use, but also reducing other drug use (including opioids like fentanyl) and improved their general socioeconomic status.
We hope that The Bridge approach could become a 'Whole-Person' solution for the growing opioid use crises. Our 'Whole-Person' approach is being acclaimed in San Francisco, Chicago, Omaha, and Toronto (CAMH & PARC), which are all partnering with us to implement our model for their homeless and low-income populations.
Our Run for a Reason team is raising money to ensure patients have access to world-class care and that research at The Ottawa Hospital continues to break down barriers.
By joining our team on May 25 & 26 or making a donation, together we’ll reach our fundraising goal. Together we’ll cross the finish line at Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend knowing we’re having an impact.
Just imagine the future!
