Welcome to My Personal Page
As a health care provider you hear the words cancer but in 2015 I heard the words “breast cancer” not only once but 3 times. First a friend/co worker, then we found a lump and when I called my GP, she TOO was battling breast cancer. After many tests and then seeing my surgeon, he said that due to the size of my lump, he would have to remove my breast. I said go for it — my body had betrayed me. The next month of waiting was the longest month of my life. I had triple negative breast cancer — that means once active treatment is done, there is nothing further the medical world can do for me. THankfully, the cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes, but chemo was warranted — chemo would make sure any pesky little cancer cells floating around were dealt with! I survived 4 months of intense chemo — barely. And 2 years later, I found a wonderful Breast Health Centre surgeon who removed my other breast. One breast had betrayed me, I wasn’t taking chances with the other one. With triple negative breast cancer they say they first 3 years are crucial. This is my 4th year. Help me celebrate this milestone by sponsoring this fundraiser. Mine is not the only journey. Too many women hear the same words I heard. And all of these women need the same incredible care from the Breast Health Centre that I received. Thank you for supporting me.
