Plus - as seen at the Golf Tournament and Affiliation Celebration - the Northern Rivers Family Services Development Team sure does throw a party!

Nepal visit
Five men and women from Nepal, discussed Foster Care and child welfare at Northeast Parent & Child Society on 9/24/12. The two groups compared notes on the similarities and difference between their governments' positions and policies regarding family issues. While the systems vary immensely, both landed on a need for qualified foster parents as a major obstacle in caring for kids in their respective countries.

The 15-30 minute "episodes" feature staff from both Parsons and Northeast, in similar positions, meeting on camera for the first time, and discussing their jobs with one another. Farnsworth 8th Graders Help Brothers and Sisters Reunite
Students from the 8th grade at Farnsworth Middle School in Guilderland raised money to help siblings separated by foster care placement reunite for one week at Camp To Belong, a summer camp that specializes in helping children re-connect with their brothers and sisters. Camp To Belong is sponsored by Albany based Parsons Child and Family Center.
With the goal of helping children in the community, the students from the Mohawk House 8th grade at Farnsworth held dances, sponsored dodge ball games and took up lunchtime collections to raise the more than $7500. Eight proposals for donating the money were presented by student leaders to a 107 member student committee for consideration. 8th grader and student committee leader Zoe Elwell gave the winning presentation, garnering the most votes from the committee for Camp To Belong.
"I grew up knowing about Parsons," said Zoe. Her mother, Kim Phelan, is President of the Board at Parsons.
Other student committee leaders included Eden Alin, Mark Beliveau, Nate Bierman, Megan Eddy, Jennifer Hoffmann, Kenzie Olena, Taylor Robles, Gus Schwenk, Matt Smolenski, Reid Vogel, Christopher Wertman and Michelle Yu.
The student committee was led by faculty members Mr. Joseph Winchester, Ms. Caley Vangelis, Ms. Jamie Affronti and Mr. Michael Kavanaugh.
The Farnsworth students presented a check to children and representatives from Parsons Child and Family Center on Friday June 24th at a special ceremony on the campus of the Farnsworth Middle School in Guilderland.
