From her very humble beginnings in a 1955 wilderness logging camp outside Smithers, BC. to the rougher parts of Toronto, ON., to the quiet life of Hanover, ON. and finally Brantford, ON, Kathy had a sagacious ability to find happiness and beauty wherever she went. Through good times and bad, Kathy always made the best of things and was seldom seen without a warm smile on her face and a kind word for others.
not academically oriented nor financially motivated and her philosophy was that
life was to be enjoyed to the fullest regardless of the circumstances.
When life dealt her lemons she always made the most wonderful lemonade.
found beauty and wonder where most people seldom look and she captured vast
amounts of that simple beauty and wonder through the lenses of her
passions were family, birds and especially butterflies. Kathy was always
fascinated by nature and was constantly searching for that “perfect shot”.
After becoming jaundiced in August 2012, Kathy was
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
and in October 2012, she was one of the few to have Whipple surgery. Although Kathy was bombarded by radiation, chemotherapy, and surgical procedures, she continued her
employment as a midnight cashier until February of 2014. Kathy did not
put her camera down until November of 2014 and after a lengthy and complicated
hospital stay, she finally
succumbed to her disease Dec. 2, 2014.
