Ninety years ago today, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, giving women like me the right to vote and marking a great step forward for women in the United States. But the fight for real equality isn’t over – not by a long shot.
Not as long as there are politicians like Rocky Raczkowski, who boasts an abysmal record on equal pay for women. Not as long as he hangs around Draconian women like Phyllis Schlafly, who thinks a married woman can’t be raped by her husband and that unmarried women are looking for the government to take care of them because they haven’t got a man to do it.
It’s infuriating that, 90 years later, people like Rocky and Phyllis still think women are second class citizens. Take a moment to tell Rocky to get with the times and support equality for women
