“Five percent of children in Minnesota, 65,000 kids, will experience the death of a parent,” said Dr. Mandel. “Grief and loss can impact a child’s school attendance, grades, extra-curricular activities, friendships, self-worth and sleep. It can derail a child’s development, leading to life-long negative impact. Growing Through Grief offers a stronger future to families, schools and communities struggling to cope with grief and loss.”
From April 27 (starting in Costa Mesa, CA) to May 30 (ending in Amesbury, MA), Dr. Mandel will ride 120 miles a day and cross the country. “I hope to raise awareness of the need for in-school grief support for children,” said Dr. Mandel. “I want to inspire others to support Growing Through Grief’s one-of-kind and highly effective work.”
You can team up with Dr. Mandel to help children build resiliency and skills to cope with grief.
