Sign Our Card Thanking Congress for Protecting Whistleblowers

We often ask you to take action on one urgent matter or another. Sometimes, the fight for better government seems so daunting –with powerful corporate lobbyists and political forces aligned against us —that it’s tempting to throw your  hands up and ask, “What’s the point?”

Well, guess what? After more than a decade of trying to get stronger protections for federal whistleblowers, we finally prevailed. The Senate this month unanimously passed the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act. The bill, which the House also passed unanimously, is now headed to President Obama to sign!

Join Us in Thanking Our Members of Congress for Passing These Critical Protections.

It is so rare to be able to thank every member of Congress for doing the right thing. We think it is especially important to let the Congress know we appreciate it when they get past the gridlock and pass a good government reform like this.

This week, as we reflect on everything that we have to be thankful for, we would like to say that all of us at the Project On Government Oversight have never been more grateful for your active support.

Today, instead of asking you to oppose a bad law or support needed legislation, we'd like you to please fill out the form below to tell your Members of Congress thanks. Because of their action, federal employees who expose fraud, waste and abuses of power, will now be better protected—and so will we all.

A Thank You Card for Protecting Whistleblowers

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am writing to thank you for enacting the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA, S. 743, as amended by the House).

You have strengthened protections for federal workers who blow the whistle on waste, fraud, abuse, and illegality. Your support on this critical issue shows that Congress can put aside partisan posturing and deliver more government accountability to the American public. These hard-fought reforms will substantially improve the status quo for federal whistleblowers and taxpayers.

Thank you,
