Senate: Vote Against FDA Nominee Dr. Robert Califf

Dr. Robert Califf

Dr. Robert Califf is not the right man for the top job at the FDA. The Food and Drug Administration bears a heavy responsibility for protecting the health and well-being of the American people.

However, Dr. Califf not only has strong ties to the drug industry, but it appears he has put the industry's bottom line ahead of public health.

After reviewing a trial that Dr. Califf co-chaired, FDA advisors expressed concerns that it put marketing before science and compromised patient health and safety. A senior FDA official wrote that a "lack of care in designing and conducting" the trial may have led to avoidable strokes among test subjects.

We deserve an FDA Commissioner who has both the expertise and independence from the drug industry to put the American people first.

Please urge your Senator to vote against Dr. Califf's Nomination

Message to the U.S. Senate

Dear Senator,

Dr. Robert Califf is not fit to be the FDA commissioner.

As head of the FDA, Dr. Califf will be tasked with safeguarding the health and safety of the public. His strong ties to the drug industry and his track record of compromising patient safety in a clinical trial he co-chaired give us no confidence he can reliably and independently act in the public interest.

If the vote to end cloture on his nomination succeeds, I urge you to vote against Dr. Califf as the FDA commissioner and advocate for a nominee who has both the expertise and independence from the drug industry to reliably protect public health and safety.

Sincerely,
