I'm ready to run my first marathon.
It's my first because I have flat feet, a flat back, a bum knee, and asthma.
I'm running it anyway because I have Parkinson's.
As a New Yorker, I have watched the marathon go by year after year with envy and, when I was diagnosed in 2021, I vowed that I was going to cross that finish line myself on my own two feet. That goal was absurd - but not impossible - and those of you who know me know that the bare edge of possible is where I do my best.
This goal is possible because of the work of the Parkinson's Foundation. The advocacy, education, research, and support they provide people with Parkinson's and their loved ones keeps us all going through this marathon of a condition, and it's time I return the favor.
I'm running for myself, and I'm running so that we can all celebrate at the finish line one day.
Thank you for your support - we'll get there together, step by step.
