Hi friends!
I am thrilled to announce my participation in the upcoming New York City Marathon this November – my very first marathon!
My motivation extends beyond the challenge of the race; I am dedicating my run to raising both funds and awareness for the Parkinson’s Foundation. This cause holds deep personal significance as I aim to honor my dad, Lloyd Purnell, who has been living with Parkinson Disease for 18 years.
From my earliest memories, my father and I shared a passion for endurance sports. He himself achieved a remarkable feat as one of the pioneering individuals from Wisconsin to conquer the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon. Inspired by his accomplishments, I embarked on my own journey in triathlon starting racing at age of 6 (significantly shorter distances haha). Throughout my upbringing, my father served as one of my coaches and #1 supporter, attending every triathlon race, track meet, and swim competition. With his guidance, I reached notable milestones, competing at both junior international and collegiate levels, winning numerous national championships. None of these achievements would have been possible without his unwavering encouragement and inspiration.
Although I have since retired from triathlon racing, my passion for running persists. To have my father witness me compete once more, this time in the best city in the world, will be a dream come true!
Your support and contributions mean the world to me! By backing my endeavor, you are contributing to the Parkinson's Foundation's mission to enhance the lives of those affected by Parkinson's disease through improved care and groundbreaking research, inching closer toward a cure. Thank you sincerely for your generosity and support.
