On March 17th, 2024, I'll be running the NYC United Airlines Half Marathon to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease as a member of the Parkinson's Champions team. I am doing this in support of the Parkinson's Foundation, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.
My dad (and favourite person ever) was diagnosed with PD in 2016, at the age of 45. Since receving this devastating diagnosis, he has faced numerous challenges with unwavering positivity and strength, and has been the best support system for my siblings and I. His resilience and determination have inspired me, and I am running this half marathon in his honor.
Although there is no cure for Parkinson's disease, research has shown that consistent exercise can significantly improve the quality of life for Parkinson’s patients. My dads PD battle has been a constant reminder of what a blessing it is to be able to move and how important it is to stay active. My dads exercise regimen combined with medication has allowed him to be there for my siblings and I- a gift for which I am beyond grateful.
My goal is to raise $1750 USD to contribute to research efforts and resources for Parkinson's patients. Every dollar counts and your support can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this challenging disease. The funds will directly support the Parkinson's Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving care and advancing research toward a cure. Your contribution will not only support important research but also provide resources for those battling Parkinson's disease.
Thank you for considering this cause. I hope that together we are working towards a future where there is a cure for Parkinson's disease. We run and will continue to run for people with Parkinson's because this disease not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Every dollar counts, thank you for your support!
