I'm ready to run!
I'm running to raise funds and awareness with the Parkinson's Champions, supporting the Parkinson's Foundation and the nearly one million people in the United States living with Parkinson's Disease. I'm challenging myself to run Stitch's Ohana Challenge (the Neverland 5K, the Adventure is Out There 10K, and the Hakuna Matata 10-Miler) April 19-21, 2024, in honor of my friend and Army battle buddy, Daryl DesJardin.
Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
This quote from Lilo and Stitch sums up the kind of friend that Daryl has been to me, and to the thousands of service members whose lives he touched over the course of his 31-year military career. He makes people feel like family wherever he goes. He's a proud father and grandfather, a devoted brother, a pirate (born 200 years too late), and so much more. He's also one of far too many people living with Parkinson's disease.
Let's pull together like family and help the Parkinson's Foundation to make life better for people living with Parkinson's disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. Studies show that 2.5 hours of weekly exercise, along with medication, can significantly improve quality of life for people living with Parkinson's. We run and will continue to run for people with Parkinson's because this disease is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Every dollar counts. Thank you for your support!
