I did that, y'all!! 19.3 Miles to raise awareness around Parkinson's Disease.
You know I love Disney... and it's totally because of my parents...
I remember the spontaneous "we're going to Disney in 2 days" trips my dad planned.
Totally didn't realize it as a kid... but he planned those for months, we just never knew.
April 19-21, I ran in loving memory of my dad, Rodolfo Candelaria Jr., who lived with and fought Parkinson’s Disease before he ascended.
While dad, and our family, lived with the challenges of Parkinson's... I've chosen a challenge in hopes that other families don't face the same ones we did.
My challenge?
The Stitch’s 'Ohana Challenge with runDisney, April 19-21, 2024. It's more than a run; it was journey back to the magical moments shared with my dad and family at Disney, where every trip was a new adventure, every laugh a cherished memory.
It was 19.3 miles of magic with the Parkinson's Foundation.
Joining the Parkinson’s Champions, I've committed to raise $2,250 for the Parkinson's Foundation. Every dollar supports vital research and services, bringing us closer to a cure. And yes, every cent raised goes to the foundation; my travel, hotel and Disney are on me.
Dad, through the magic and story of Disney, taught us about the power of dreams and resilience. Now, I get to run through these same magical places to honor my dad's legacy and support those fighting Parkinson's. Your donation empowers this cause, fueling hope and action against this disease.
If you're financially able to contribute to the Parkinson's Foundation in dad's memory, please visit here.
If for some reason you aren't... please cheer me on during this weekend as I honor my dad and also help bring awareness the countless others battling Parkinson's disease.
Why run with the Parkinson's Foundation?
To educate, to inspire. Parkinson's is not a sprint, it’s a marathon for all involved in the care of a loved one. The Parkinson's Foundation works to make life better for people living with Parkinson's disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. They also provide that education so children and grand children of those living with Parkinson's can understand.
