Hello everyone!
My name is Maggie and this year I have decided to run my first ever marathon through the Parkinson's Champions Foundation. It has always been a goal of mine to run a marathon and I could not turn down the opportunity to do it with such an amazing foundation to support those with Parkinson’s Disease.
A little about my connection to PD: My dad, John Carter, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease last year (Aug 2023). He has always been an active guy- ran marathons, did Little 500 bike racing at IU, completed many triathlons (still does!) including a full Iron Man, the list goes on! Although he struggles with a life time obstacle, he continues to stay active through strength training and group fitness. He has inspired me to begin my marathon journey; what better way to run my first ever marathon in support of my Dad.
The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people living with Parkinson's disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. Studies show that 2.5 hours of weekly exercise, can significantly improve quality of life for people living with Parkinson's. We run and will continue to run for people with Parkinson's because this disease not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
Thank you for your support!
Best,
MAGS
