Parkinson's Champions - 2024 HOKA Chicago Half Marathon & 5k

Team Rola

Welcome to our Parkinson's Champions Team Page!

On September 29th, we're running the LifeTime Chicago Half Marathon with Parkinson’s Champions to raise funds & awareness to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Our dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2016. His persistent fight is our ultimate motivation to cross the finish line. Our dad has given back to the Parkinson’s community in many ways. He volunteers on the board of a Metro Detroit non-profit, The Parkinson's Movement Center. He also participated in various clinical trials for advancing Parkinson's medical treatment. We aim to follow in our dad’s footsteps to play our part in helping to end this disease and to support others and their families who have been impacted by it, as well.

Very recently on July 2, 2024, President Biden signed the "National Plan to End Parkinson's Act" - the first-ever federal legislation dedicated to ending Parkinson's disease. This makes us that much more optimistic that a cure to Parkinson's will be discovered in our lifetimes.

If you are able, please consider donating to our cause:
- To donate to our team, click on either of our names from the 'Team Roster' list in the right column of the page and make a donation there. Donations to our personal pages will count toward our team goal.

Thank you so much for reading and for your consideration, love, and support.

Sincerely,

Scott & Jackie

In the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people in the U.S. who currently have PD, and ten million people worldwide. The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people living with Parkinson's disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure.

Studies show that 2.5 hours of weekly exercise along with medication, can significantly improve quality of life for people living with Parkinson's. We run and will continue to run for people with Parkinson's - this disease is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.

Thank you for supporting us and the vital work of the Parkinson's Foundation.
