Dear Friends and Family:

 This year, Saturday, October 22nd, marks the 10th anniversary of the Parkinson’s Foundation (PF) Moving Day Atlanta Walk.  As we have in the past, my family, including Sully, Gordon and Brittany, Gwen and Laddie, Grace and Griffin and I will form a family team and will be raising critical funds in the fight against Parkinson’s.  Over the last 8 years, thanks in large part to your support, our team has raised over $268,000 through Moving Day Atlanta in support of Parkinson’s Foundation.

This annual event holds special significance for our family as my dad, Hank McCamish, passed away in June 2013 after a multi-year struggle with Parkinson’s. In addition, we have numerous close friends who courageously battle Parkinson’s daily, as you may. PF seeks to make their lives better today as well as advance research to a cure.

PF’s Atlanta Walk is one of over 52 similar national events sponsored annually across the country. It will feature fitness demonstrations and powerful stories from the Georgia Parkinson’s community.  Together, we will encourage everyone to raise awareness, support and funding for Parkinson’s.

Why Get Involved and Why the Parkinson’s Foundation

With more than 80 cents of every dollar expended going to missions, PF brings help and hope to the estimated one million people in the US, ten million worldwide, living with Parkinson’s. PF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving Parkinson’s quality of care and helping people with PD live well today, while funding research for a cure. While the total economic burden of this disease in the US tops $52 billion annually, the federal government spends less than 1% of this amount to fight it.  Thus, Parkinson’s is a big, national health issue which could really benefit from the targeted research that PF supports through its global network of 51 Centers of Excellence (including Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia) and others.  Since 1957, PF has funded more than $340 million in groundbreaking research, transforming the way we diagnose and treat Parkinson’s. With your support, we can advance PF’s mission to improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s through research, education and outreach.
