Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Family and Friends,
I will be participating again in Moving Day NC Triangle through the Parkinson's Foundation to raise awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson's. According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of Parkinson's has doubled in the last 25 years and it is projected to double again by 2040. Certain industrial chemicals and some synthetic pesticides are believed to be emerging risk factors in the development of Parkinson's. I participated in the PD Generation Study last year and learned that I do not have any of the 7 known genes that are linked to PD. Like most of us with PD, I don't know what factors contributed to my diagnosis.
There is still so much we need to learn! I remain committed to daily exercise given it is the only thing that has been proven to help slow progression. I've added juggling, hanging from monkey bars, and balancing on a Mobo board to my repertoire. I fully support the efforts of the Parkinson's Foundation in their mission to improve care and advance research toward a cure. I have personally benefitted greatly from their resources and programs. I want to do what I can while I can to make a difference. Thank you for helping me to continue to Rise Up!
