My husband, my hero!
January 21, 2021 - the day that changed our lives. The day we received Tom’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. He continues his “fight back” against the disease …. walking (10,000 steps per day), boxing, dancing, strength training, voice training, ping pong for Parkinson’s, golf and tennis for Parkinson’s … whatever he needs to do to fight the fight. There is no “why me" for this guy!
This year we learned, first hand, the importance of movement when Tom was unable to manage physical activity for several months. Without that physical activity he had a noticeable setback. And while he’s improved significantly from the setback - it took longer than we anticipated.
I continue to be proud of how he fights back against this degenerative brain disease for which there is yet to be a cure. It’s a full time job for Tom - and it’s hard.
On Moving Day Chicago, we walk because walking and movement are critical to managing this disease. We walk so Tom can continue hiking. We walk so Tom can continue living his best life possible. Tom walks and moves and boxes and dances and voice trains because it makes him better. On “Moving Day’ we walk to support Parkinson’s Foundation and all of us impacted by this disease.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for joining us in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. Your donation means the world to us.
XO’s
Shari and Tom
PS If anyone is thinking about a birthday gift for me on my "special" birthday - this would be the PERFECT gift!
