The Atlanta Movers and Shakers
Welcome to the Atlanta Movers and Shakers Team Page for Moving Day Atlanta!
Three years ago this October I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease. It was a shock to say the least, but our family was no stranger to Parkinson's. My father was also diagnosed in his fifties. This year more than 50,000 people will join the 1 million people already diagnosed with the disease in the United States. The 2020 Moving Day Atlanta Walk will be a virtual event. I'm disappointed we won't be together to walk and celebrate, but it is more important than ever to commit to supporting programs for those affected by Parkinson's and to forge ahead on finding that cure! If you know me, it won't surprise you that I don't intend to walk on this journey alone. I need your help and so do the many families walking on this path.
When asked why I walk for Moving Day Atlanta, I simply say for my family and friends. I walk for all the caregivers who are also living with the impact that Parkinson's Disease has on the entire family. If you love someone with Parkinson's Disease I am walking for you. I walk for my father who has lived with Parkinson's gracefully and rarley complains. For my mother and sister who put their heads down to take of us and make us laugh along the way. And for Frank, Katie and John who make me forget I have Parkinson's, but are rock stars when it's all I can think about. Finally, for my friends who give love, laughter, and perspective each and every day. For all of you I am grateful and I walk for you.
I ask for your help to raise $15,000 for Moving Day Atlanta. So much can be accomplished together. Thank you!
