Donate to Gordon!

Dear Friends and Family,

As a Board Member of the Parkinson’s Foundation (PF), my family and I, including Sully, Grace, Gwen & Laddie and Brittany & Gordon, will be raising critical funds again this year to support our Moving Day Atlanta Walk on Saturday, October 17th, 2020. Over the last 6 years, thanks in large part to your support, we have raised over $239,000 through Moving Day Atlanta in support of Parkinson’s Foundation. This annual event holds special significance for our family as my dad, Hank McCamish, passed away in June 2013 after a multi-year struggle with Parkinson’s. In addition, we have numerous close friends who courageously battle Parkinson’s daily, as I am sure you do. The Parkinson’s Foundation seeks to make their lives better today as well as advance research to a cure.

Our Atlanta Walk, one of over 45 similar national events sponsored annually by the Foundation across the country, will be “virtual” this year due to the Covid pandemic.  It will feature three fitness demonstrations, four powerful stories from people within the Georgia Parkinson’s community and will encourage people and teams to come together to raise awareness and support for Parkinson’s.

Why Get Involved and Why the Parkinson’s Foundation

With more than 80 cents of every dollar collected going to our missions, the PF continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, living with Parkinson’s. PF is the only Parkinson’s organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s and helping people with PD live well today, while we search for a cure. While the total economic burden of this disease in the United States tops $52 billion annuals, the federal government spends less than 1% of this amount to fight it. Parkinson’s is a big, national health issue which could really benefit from the targeted research that PF supports through its global network of 48 Centers of Excellence (including Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia) and other support groups. Since 1957, the Foundation has funded more than $340 million in groundbreaking research, transforming the way we diagnose and treat Parkinson’s. With your support, we can advance PF’s mission to improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s through research education and outreach. I know you understand the importance of an event like this that raises money for such an important cause.

No matter what you can afford, every dollar counts! Please make a donation on our behalf by clicking on the DONATE TO GORDON button.

If you prefer to give through a Donor Advised Fund, please have the check made out to the Parkinson’s Foundation and mailed as follows with a notice to credit “Team Beckham”.
