Linzee is Boxing to Beat Parkinson's

I am participating in the Moving Day Virtual Walk, benefiting the Parkinson's Foundation, with my team, local Rock Steady Boxing affiliate, Rock Steady Boxing San Marco.
We will be able to enjoy a variety of movement activities like yoga, dance, Pilates, boxing, stretching, and much more and celebrate the importance of movement in our lives.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the Parkinson's Foundation.
What is Rock Steady Boxing San Marco?
We are learning every day that there are ways in which people with Parkinson’s disease can enhance their daily quality of life and even build impressive power, strength, flexibility, and speed! In our gym, exercises are largely adapted from boxing drills. Various studies in the 1980s and 90s supported the notion that rigorous exercise, emphasizing gross motor movement, balance, core strength, and rhythm, can favorably impact range of motion, flexibility, posture, gait, and activities in daily life. More recent studies, most notably at Cleveland Clinic, focus on the concept of intense “forced” exercise, and have begun to suggest that certain kinds of exercise may be neuro-protective, i.e., actually slowing disease progression. RSB clients can attest, and academic institutions such as University of Indianapolis and Butler University are reporting and documenting the improved quality of life among our boxers. These classes have proven that anyone, at any level of Parkinson’s, can actually lessen their symptoms and lead a healthier/happier life.
Why Move for Moving Day?
Did you know that someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease every 9 minutes in the United States? No one should have to face Parkinson’s alone. That is why the Parkinson's Foundation provides a community of support to give people the resources and help they need to live well with Parkinson’s.
Support our mission to help every person diagnosed with Parkinson's live their best possible life now. Your gift will help us fund better research, better treatment, and better lives.
