Shake, Rattle and Pointe
San Francisco Ballet Team Shake, Rattle and Pointe is committed to supporting the Parkinson’s Foundation important work in supporting the PD community and finding a cure! Can you help us raise funds for the Parkinson’s Foundation?
Since the Fall of 2017 a class has been offered free of charge to people living with PD, their family members and caregivers. Through this program over 200 individuals have experienced the joy of dance with SF Ballet School’s Dance Class for People Living with PD.
In response to COVID-19 pandemic San Francisco Ballet School’s Dance Class for People Living with PD pivoted in March 2020 to virtual classes on Zoom. Classes are at 2pm on Mondays and Fridays. All classes are accompanied by a SF Ballet School Pianist. The class provides for options: warm up is done sitting in a chair, dancers then go to the barre for ballet exercises. Class concludes with dances in the center. The entire class can also be enjoyed in a chair. Big sustained movement is helpful to people with PD - ballet is full of that kind of movement! People who are interested in attending the class should register with Lead Teacher Cecelia Beam at cbeam@sfballet.org.
