Welcome to My Personal Page
Moving Day is a movement for change, towards greater awareness, more funds and a greater understanding of a disease that affects many of our family and friends.
In the City of Miami this event takes place each year and the walk took place on November 9, 2019, but it is not an event already sold out, because this is a movement that continues to tour the cities of the United States, such as: Fresno April 5, 2020; Tampa Bay April 18, 2020; Omaha, etc, so that the fundraising is still open. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2020 We will have the celebration of Moving Day in Miami.
And this is where my turn comes:
My name´s JACKELINE ACOSTA, I´m 13 years old, and I am carrying out this community service as a school graduation project of the 8th grade IB program that I am currently studying and I am very proud to do it, because my parents have always taught me the importance of giving back to our community what comes to us given naturally.
The first job to do for me was to define a need in my community through research and planning, and after several attempts I came to the conclusion that people with Parkinson's would be the ones chosen by me to help them through its Moving Day program.
My project is called “Spread the Word with JACKIE”.
Essentially, there is a latent need in our society to really know Parkinson's, because there are myths created around this disease, and that is why the creation of my project reveals that reality, because as the name implies, it consists of spreading the word, share the information and help together, to raise awareness about the FREE resources available to those who suffer from the disease, since sometimes they do not know about the existence of this support or distrust their gratuitousness, but also demolish myths, because it is considered a disease suffered only by older people and nothing is further from reality, because it increasingly affects younger people (+ 35 years). My main objective with this project: to support people with Parkinson's disease in research and improve their day to day, through the donation of each of the people who know my project, so through my Official Parkinson's Page within the Moving Day event, they will be able to access through this link, and then clicking on the yellow box you can help me reach my goal of fundraising, which I carry out with the approval and authorization of the Parkinson Foundation.
Why support Moving Day ?:
Did you know that someone is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease every 9 minutes in the United States? No one should have to face Parkinson's alone. That is why the Parkinson Foundation provides a supportive community to provide people with the resources and help they need to live well with Parkinson
The funds raised through Moving Day support the national mission of the Parkinson Foundation by:
*Providing quality care to more than 145,000 people living with Parkinson.
*Fund avant-garde research aimed at a better treatment, while advancing us towards a cure.
*Provide free resources and local services for people living with Parkinson and their families.
Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal to support the vital work of the Parkinson's Foundation!
