I'm excited to be back in the saddle and ready to ride!
The Revolution Ride brings people together to help fight Parkinson's disease (PD). It's a fight to have the upper hand against a progressive disorder that is currently incurable. It is important that we keep our eyes on the future, and that we live high quality lives today.
I was diagnosed with Early Onset PD in 2018. The diagnosis stunned me, and it took a while for me to process. Eventually my perspective and outlook improved. Although PD is a continual challenge, it has brought me into contact with wonderful people around the world. It has also restarted friendships. I am proud of the volunteer work I've done for PD Active in the East Bay in Northern California. I hope to be able to continue to support the critical efforts of organizations that help address PD.
I will ride on Saturday, June 12, 2021 to raise funds for the Parkinson's Foundation. The Foundation works to improve care for those living with Parkinson's and advance research toward a cure. While people with PD are thankful for the medications currently available, the primary treatment for PD is a medication that was discovered more than 50 years ago. There is optimism that the future will bring new treatments but that future depends on funding of research and support of innovative practitioners.
Gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated!
