We would like to thank everyone for your kind words and prayers. It has been a comfort to know he is being prayed for and remembered by so many. The stories have brought us smiles. He definitely loved life. He spent much of it in service to his country and his family whom he loved with unstinting help, advice, and devotion. He was a man who did a lot of
good with little fuss; even his beloved grandchildren, sisters, cousins and many nieces and nephews may not know of the volunteer hours at church at three AM, the TV sets repaired without charge for elderly customers and nursing homes, the vegetables, jams and jars of honey that he gave away.... He was all about love in action rather than words. Kathy will
never forget coming out of Mom and Dad's bathroom to find him there with his screwdriver tightening her wobbly walker, nor his joy on the day Anne married Rob Riegel, the son of his dear friends of 60 plus years Bob and Pat. When we think of honor, excellence and pride in a job well done, we will be thinking of Dad.
Dad's passing was more sudden than we expected and with the risks of COVID still so high, we believe he would want us to wait to gather in celebration of his life. In spring, we plan to arrange his inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery with Mom. We will of course gather after to reminisce. We will let everyone know when these plans are finalized, and all are invited.
Recently Dad discovered he had Parkinson's disease. He had previously lost cousins to this awful disease. We believe he would like to support research for the cure. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations go to Parkinson.org or your favorite charity.
With your support we can help the foundation's mission to make life better for people with Parkinson’s. I know you understand the importance of raising money for such an important cause.
No matter what you can afford, every dollar counts! So please make a donation on my behalf.
Thank you so much for all of your support and helping us raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease.
