We have created this tribute page for the Parkinson's Foundation in honor of Marcene Cropp.
With your support we can help the foundation's mission, and Marcene’s mission, to make life better for people with Parkinson’s.
Marcene was a beloved wife, mom, grandparent, great grandparent, aunt, sister, and friend to so many. She was sweet and strong, beautiful inside and out, and so very devoted to her faith, her church — where she spent much of her time worshiping, volunteering, and playing the organ for 50yrs — and her family throughout her life. Family meant the world to her — she adored being with and looking at photos of her cherished kids, grandkids, and great grandkids with her husband of nearly 60 years, Denny. They all brought her endless joy.
Marcene was diagnosed with Parkinson’s an astounding 22 years ago. Shortly after being diagnosed, she launched into battle to continue living her very active lifestyle with a fierce determination. Marcene was an athlete and incredibly passionate about nature. She relished any opportunity to be out in it, whether running, hiking with a women’s hiking group she joined after her diagnosis, skiing, or working on her mail route. She worked for 20 years for the FAA but left to finish out the last 15 years of her career as a mail carrier for the USPS before retiring, primarily because she could be outside and moving.
Marcene was also a talented photographer, exquisitely capturing her admiration for the natural world and God’s hand in its splendor in all of her breathtaking photographs of wildlife, wildflowers, sunrises and sunsets in the Rocky Mountains and Front Range of Colorado. She was known to burst out into “America the Beautiful” as she stood atop Colorado’s highest peaks, arms thrown wide and a big smile on her face. Just a few months ago as family joined together, the topic of favorite colors came up. Barely able to speak, she said “My favorite color is Earth.” Marcene remained determined to keep her mind sharp playing cards and board games with family, and her body moving as long as she possibly could. She played some rounds of Pitch, a family favorite card game, not long before she passed.
We will all deeply miss her light, her tenacity, her warm smile and her beautiful spirit.
Thank you so much for all of your support and helping us raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease.
