On June 13, 2022, my beloved grandfather Ha Luong passed away due to complications with pneumonia associated with Parkinson’s disease. He was the most caring, giving, unselfish, and hard-working person that we know. He was not only an amazing grandfather, but he was also the best father anyone can ask for. From chauffeuring his grandchildren anywhere they want to go to delivering school lunches to them, he made sure we were always taken care of. He sacrificed so much to give his family a better life.
He held his Chinese heritage close to him and passed on the culture and traditions to his family. From years of manual labor. his hands became rough and tired, yet he still used those hands to craft home-cooked meals from scratch and deliver them to his family. Even as his condition quickly worsened, suffering from tremors and falls, and with multiple bouts at the hospital from injuries, he still kept a smile and expressed his love and appreciation for his family. He was also a devout Buddhist, attending prayer and meditation sessions at the local temple where he had made dozens of long-lasting friendships and bonds with the community.
Finally, to the many lives he touched and raised, he was a father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He now joins his beloved wife, in rest.
To honor his legacy of strength and selflessness, I am creating this fundraiser for the Parkinson’s Foundation on behalf of my mother and my uncle. Through this fundraiser, we wish to make a contribution to promoting Parkinson's awareness and hope that one day there will be a cure for Parkinson’s disease through research and care.
We will miss you Grandpa, and though it may be a long time, we will see each other again.
