In January, the state legislature will return with a lot of new energy in the Assembly and Senate. With these changes come opportunities to address the enormous need for new investments in water infrastructure, to stop the scourge of single-use plastic bags, and to defend New York State from federal rollbacks of environmental protections. This year we’re increasing our presence in Albany to ensure the Hudson River Estuary receives much-needed protections and funding for critical infrastructure investments. Our first opportunity to set policy for the coming year is the state budget proposal, which the Governor's office is developing right now! To bring it home for the Hudson River Estuary this year, we are going to need your help. We will keep you updated on ways to support our legislative priorities to make sure investments in clean water and action on plastic bags are top priorities.Personalized messages are far more effective than form letters--many elected official tell us this.
In the box below, tell Governor Cuomo and his team why you care about investing in clean water, fully staffing and funding the DEC, and taking action on plastic bags.
• Read the sample letter (below) and edit it as you see fit. Personalized letters have a greater impact!
• Complete the required fields and click “Send Message.”
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Riverkeeper.
