The Burwell Family Page
“There will always be a reason why you meet people. Either you need them to change your life or you’re the one that will change theirs.” —Angel Flonis Harefa
It was a confusing time in the Burwell household. In the same week we were closing on the purchase of our new home, found out we were expecting our third baby and received our oldest sons’ Autism diagnosis.
A few weeks prior, I was introduced to a new client for work. That organization was SARRC. I will never forget walking into the boardroom full of smart, passionate, and caring leaders. I quickly fell in love with the team and their mission.
What started in my mind as an important and noble mission was now quickly becoming my family’s lifeline. SARRC has held our hand every step of the way. They have been there as we have navigated from shock and confusion to educated and empowered.
That October we formed a walk team to support SARRC with our closest friends and family. Jack happily named our team “Captain Jack and His Merry Mates!” We were overwhelmed by the love and support we felt.
Since that confusing week in April of 2018, our middle son James has also received an Autism diagnosis. We embarked again on a new adventure to discover and implement the support and services James needs to be successful.
Earlier this year, the opportunity of a lifetime became available and I joined this incredible team so that I can help all Arizonans have the same amazing support our family has recieved. Our vision is to have services within reach of every Arizonan who needs them.
We need your help to get there! We would be so grateful for your support.
This year, we are participating in YES Day for Autism to raise critical autism funding not only for SARRC but for other nonprofit autism organizations throughout the state as well. Importantly, all dollars raised will be kept in Arizona for Arizona.
From Captain Jack & James and His Merry Mates we thank you from the bottom of our heart!
