Dear [Decision Maker],
On June 23rd, thousands of people around the globe are taking part in a global day of action to protest the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in the People's Republic of China (PRC). As a part of this international effort, I am writing to request you to please co-sponsor the bi-partisan "Beijing Winter Olympics Sponsor Accountability Act," if you haven't already, and to make a statement supporting a full or diplomatic boycott of the Beijing 2022 Olympics. Please also urge your colleagues in Congress to take action on this important issue.
The #NoBeijing2022 Global Day of Action will see people in over 50 cities, from Boston to Buenos Aires, Washington to Wellington, demonstrating their opposition to the Olympics being held in China. The Chinese government is committing genocide against the Uyghur people, and engaging in an unprecedented campaign of repression in East Turkistan, Tibet, Southern Mongolia, Hong Kong, and China itself, as well as threatening democratic Taiwan. Chinese leaders want to use the Olympics to "sportswash" their crimes against humanity and egregious human rights violations and it is unconscionable that any government, organization or corporation would consider legitimizing these crimes by attending or participating in the Games in any way.
I am heartened to see that some Members of Congress and officials in the US government have heeded the call of Tibetan, Uyghur, Hong Konger, and other activists and have released statements opposing the Games. However, I believe more action is necessary in the face of the Chinese government's unprecedented attack on the dignity and freedom of so many people under its control. I hope you will support this global movement by taking a stand against China's Genocide Games today.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
