Your Stories
An institution that has touched Hamiltonians’ lives
Pregnant with her first child, Kerry Turcotte had the intention of having a home birth. By Christmas she was almost full-term, but her blood pressure was concerning. On January 2, 2005 Kerry was admitted to St. Joe’s with eclampsia and soon after went into labour.
People give to things they feel connected to, so I hope that by telling my story I can connect with others and in this way I’m connecting them to St Joe's. By the time my daughter Molly was born the room was crowded: there were my midwives, the doctor and resident, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team. They were all amazing and I’m so grateful for their teamwork and the care we received.

Going the Distance for St. Joe’s!
While she was a long-term care resident in Niagara, Mathew’s mother, Elizabeth, suffered with mental health issues and her social worker referred her to the Seniors Mental Health Outreach Program at St. Joe’s West 5th Campus. Elizabeth received specialized advocacy, counseling and therapeutic supports, all made possible by St. Joe’s. Her family was also supported and, in gratitude for the excellent care in her final years, Mathew is fundraising in the Paris to Ancaster: A Ride for Research.
