Call on Governor DeSantis to Veto SB 620

The ill-conceived bill has been transmitted for his signature.

Please take a couple of minutes and urge Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to veto SB 620, which would allow businesses to sue governments over changes to local ordinances if the business is at least three years old and can convince a court that a new law resulted or will result in a 15% loss of profit.

Florida’s water quality standards are woefully inadequate to protect our waterways, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 manatees in the past two years, alone. It is often up to local communities to enact ordinances that create necessary infrastructure and programs. Under SB 620, local programs that are known to address water quality issues like septic-to-sewer, stormwater and fertilizer ordinances are at risk.

It would also affect the ability of local governments to regulate other issues that directly impact our communities, including sea level rise, public safety, noise ordinances, parking, puppy mills, bar hours and more.
