In 2023, we cycled 100K in support of the BARLO MS Centre and raised just over $44,000! This year we plan to ride again with a goal of $50,000.
Recently BARLO has launched an MS biobank, with tissue samples donated by St. Michael’s MS patients. A biobank is a biological and clinical repository of tissue samples. It is the foundation for collecting data required for many different studies. This biorepository is key to developing disease biomarkers that, in turn, light the way to new diagnostics, therapeutics and treatments. Some of the research projects include identifying early biomarkers of MS, investigating the role of environmental and lifestyle factors, and examining how the gut microbiome impacts MS progression.
We are riding on August 27 to raise money in support of the MS biobank with the goal to make it available for use by researchers from around the world who are seeking to understand and, ultimately, put a stop to MS.
Any contribution you could make would be much appreciated!
Thank you,
Caroline, Michael, and John Bowman
