Tell Congress to Support IVAWA!
Nigeria recently passed a law outlawing female genital
mutilation (FGM) – a painful and scarring practice that is estimated to have
affected over 125 million women worldwide. This is a huge win!
If you haven’t heard, there is a bill in Congress that would
amp up the United States’ role in protecting women and girls worldwide. The
International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) would connect women with the
legal support, education, and economic opportunity they need, while ensuring
that women and girls in humanitarian crises are protected from violence.
As we celebrate with women and girls in Nigeria,
we’re seizing the moment to tell Congress that now is the time to pass IVAWA.
