Ask Your Senator to Oppose Anti-Immigrant Legislation
Next week, the Senate will
likely vote on an anti-immigrant bill called the Stop Sanctuary Policies and
Protect Americans Act (S. 2146) which would withhold federal funding from
so-called “sanctuary cities,” where local law enforcement exercise
discretion when inquiring about a person’s immigration status.
This bill would decrease public
safety and make our communities more vulnerable by creating a fearful
relationship between immigrants and local police.
Contact your Senators using the form below and ask them to oppose this dangerous bill!
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Sojourners.
Pope Francis was clear on how we should treat our immigrant sisters and brothers, encouraging members of Congress to respond to immigrants "in a way which is always humane, just and fraternal."S.2146 would do just the opposite. This bill would decrease public safety and make our communities more vulnerable by creating a fearful relationship between immigrants and local police.
