Thank Senators who stopped harmful immigration bills
Last week, the Senate came together to stop costly and fear driven legislation on sanctuary cities and mandatory sentencing minimums. The bills, S.3100, “Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act” and S.2193, “Kate’s Law” were designed to create distress and distrust in our communities by punishing cities that allow police to focus on community priorities rather than targeting people based on their immigration status.
These bills would have been a disaster - and thankfully a majority of the Senate came together to oppose them.
Thank the Senators who opposed these bills here - we will deliver this message to the Senators who opposed each bill.
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Sojourners.
Thank You Message Text:
Dear Members of Congress,
As people of faith committed to the call to "welcome the stranger," we thank you for your role in making sure that S.3100, "Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act" and S.2193, "Kate's Law" did not pass. These bills would have created distress and distrust in our communities by punishing cities that allow police to focus on community priorities rather than targeting people based on their immigration status. For the sake of our immigrant neighbors, and for all of our communities, you have our thanks for standing against this harmful legislation.
Signed,[Your Name] [City, State ZIP]
