Snake River salmon are a miracle of nature that we are at risk of losing forever. Fighting upstream hundreds of miles and thousands of feet, against obstacles natural and human, to their natal streams to spawn their next generation, salmon inspire us to joy, reverence, and respect.
Federal Judge James Redden has rejected the Obama Administration's $10 billion Salmon and Steelhead Plan for the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Since 2001, three plans from three administrations - Clinton, Bush, and now Obama - have been ruled illegal for similar reasons: failing to provide imperiled salmon and steelhead with a real shot at survival. The message is clear: the government's old efforts have failed, and we need a new approach.
TAKE ACTION NOW: Send the message below to President Obama, key members of his adminstration, and your Senators.
Dear [Decision Maker],
I am writing you today to express my profound disappointment with the federal government's current policies for Columbia-Snake River Basin salmon and steelhead. With your help, we have an opportunity to fix the mistakes of the past and pursue a new path to recover wild salmon, rebuild jobs, protect communities, and invest in the clean energy economy.I call on you to please do all you can to safeguard these magnificent creatures - including removing the four lower Snake River dams - and make sure these salmon are here for future generations to admire and cherish.
Sincerely, [Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
