Colette Elisabeth Pavao Lazenby -- known to her friends and loved ones as Coco -- was a girl who loved nature, and the trees and animals that lived in the wild. She spent a lot of special time in the Forest of Nisene Marks. She hiked and climbed trees there, swam in a place she called "Mermaid's Cove" and even released native frogs that she raised from tiny tadpoles.
That's why we can't think of a better way to honor her young life than by naming a redwood grove for her in this park she loved, and where we spent so much time as a family. We love the idea of going there to talk to her, and of preserving nature in her name for generations of children to come to enjoy.
Gifts made in tribute to Coco will help us name a very special grove in her memory, while at the same time supporting the important work of Save the Redwoods League. Your donations will support the League’s Redwood Land Program, which protects land through acquisition, easements, restoration, and stewardship, as well as supports and promotes scientific research and education regarding redwood forest lands.
Please join us in this effort. If you have any questions about donating to Coco's grove or about Save the Redwoods League, please contact Jackie Perkins at (415) 820-5847 or jperkins@SaveTheRedwoods.org.
Thank you for your remembering Coco -- and for your participation in this very special dedication. Your support means the world to us.
