Peter’s Story

Peter Zissis was putting something in the trunk of his car when the car parked behind him was hit by another vehicle. He was pushed into his own car crushing both of his legs.

Peter was rushed to St. Joseph's Health Centre Emergency Department. He had extensive surgery and started the long road back to being mobile.

While at St. Joe’s, Peter saw posters for Cycle 4 St. Joe’s. It gave him a goal and he started training.

Just one year after his accident, Peter rode in Cycle - it was his first time on a bike outside of his house. Peter wanted to do more and joined our cycling committee in 2017.

“I've been the beneficiary of much care and attention from many people at St. Joe's. I ride in Cycle 4 St. Joe's because I know firsthand how much we depend on having great care in our west-end community.” Peter returned in 2018 as one of our strongest fundraisers ready to tackle the Halton Hills. He's raised almost $15,000 for St. Joe's in the last three years!
