About The Dementia Society

Dementia is described often as a marathon: it requires pacing and stamina. At The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, we support people living with dementia and their caregivers as they find new ways to live well. We provide compassionate support, tailored coaching and practical education for everyone impacted by dementia.

We also work to reduce the stigma of dementia to make our community more accessible to those who live with dementia. Through education and increased awareness, we show the greater community how to be more inclusive and to take responsibility for their brain health.

Our annual Walk for Dementia helps us amplify awareness around dementia, its types— including Alzheimer’s, and reduce stigma, all while raising funds to help us continue to provide support and services to people right here in our Ottawa and Renfrew County Community.

Did you know that you can call The Dementia Society anytime?

You don't need a referral from a healthcare professional or social worker to contact us

The Dementia Society knows how difficult it can be to navigate all the care options for people with dementia, and we're here to help. For example, we can provide information about dementia, suggest practical strategies for people with dementia and their caregivers and families, or offer fun, social and safe activities such as music and art to help caregivers take a break and the person living with dementia feel less isolated and connected to the community. All our services are FREE of charge.
