BrainyActive Walk for Dementia 2023

Team Louise

Hello friends!

I first started participating in The Dementia Society's annual Walk for Dementia  in 2018. Little did I know that the impact of what was happening as a result of my mother's' experience with dementia would not only turn my personal life upside down, but it would also change the course of my career.

This Sunday we are "re-invigorating" the Walk after a 3-year pandemic hiatus. So now it's personal, and professional. My development and education team at The Dementia Society and I have been working very hard to raise funds and awareness for dementia, to help the thousands of families in our region greatly in need.

Rarely does a week go by that I do not hear of another friend or acquaintance going down their own family road of dementia. Maybe you are one of these? Please consider joining me either by sponsoring Team Louise, or coming out to walk with us.

We are looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces this coming Sunday, September 24th. Did you know that 40% of dementias can be prevented?  Lifestyle choices like movement, diet, and keeping socially connected are all modifiable risk factors for dementia. So come walk with us; it will do your own brain good while you help others in need of support!

Whatever you can give will help – it all adds up! I greatly appreciate your support and thank you for helping us to reach -- and exceed our fundraising goal. And if you can come Sunday -- let me know. I'd love to see you at the finish line!
