Socially distanced Steps for Life

COVID-19 Safety at 2023 Steps for Life In-Person Events

Thank you for walking with Steps for Life. We are excited to have you participate this year. For local details, information can be found on your community webpage - click here for a list of locations.

The volunteer committees have been working diligently planning for the walks. The safety of our staff, volunteers and participants is our priority. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. There are a few things to keep in mind for your walk day (in the park).

CONTACTLESS REGISTRATION
We recommend contactless registration online prior to the event. If you are registering on the day of the walk, please either register at home on your computer or at the event on your mobile phone. Community registration will remain open to accept last minute registrations and pledges.

PAPERLESS DONATIONS
Tap-and-go! In addition, we will be offering contactless payments by either using the square or online website at in-person Steps for Life events. And if you have collected cash or cheques, in aiming for a paperless event we encourage you to submit these gifts ahead of time using the various methods outlined in our tip sheet here.

VACCINATION
Health and safety is central for Threads of Life. Each in-person Steps for Life event will follow all applicable public health requirements or guidelines including gathering size, mask use, physical distancing, and other health and safety practices. Individual events, or indoor portions of events, may require proof of vaccination to enter, depending on the requirements set by the venue. Please check your community Steps for Life page for the most up to date information.

MASKS
All staff, volunteers and participants will be required to comply with local public health guidelines regarding mask wearing. Where masks are not required, we ask that participants respect the choice of those who may opt to wear a mask for their own safety.

SANITIZATION STATIONS
We ask that you use the hand sanitizer provided as you enter the walk venue. Sanitizer can also be found at designated points throughout the venue.

FLEXIBILITY
If you, or any member of your party, are in quarantine or isolation, have come in contact with someone with COVID-19, are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have tested positive for COVID-19, do not come to the Steps for Life event. We are offering “walk at home” options as part of registration.

CONTACT TRACING
For contact tracing purposes, the information collected on your online registration form will be used should we need to notify you of any COVID-related issue.

We are here to help! Our volunteers will be on hand during the Steps for Life event to provide guidance on walk day. If you have any questions or feedback on your experience, please don’t hesitate to ask. We can also be reached at steps@threadsoflife.ca.
