Q: What is Threads of Life?

A: The Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life, is a national Canadian registered charity dedicated to supporting families along their journey of healing, after a workplace fatality, life-altering workplace injury or occupational disease.

 

Q: What is Steps for Life?

A: Steps for Life is a national fundraiser to help those affected by workplace tragedy. Created in 2004, it raises funds to support Threads of Life programs and services for families who’ve suffered from a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease. It also raises awareness about the importance of health and safety.

 

Q: What activities are included?

A: The central Steps for Life activity is a community walk, but for those who aren’t able to attend, or in case of health restrictions, we encourage you to participate by tackling any activity you like, and sharing it to our social media accounts.

 

Q: How does Steps for Life contribute to my community?

A: If you register and fundraise through your community Steps for Life page, your participation goes toward your community’s totals -- so there’s bragging rights as stake! More important, you’re connecting – in person or virtually -- with other Steps for Life participants in your area. And any dollars raised help those affected by workplace tragedy in your community and across the country.

 

Q: Is Threads of Life a registered charity? Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?

A: Yes and yes. Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life, is a Canadian registered charity (Registration number 87524 8908 RR0001). Charitable tax receipts and business tax receipts are available for qualifying donations of $20 or more.

 

Q: Can I make a donation by phone or mail?

A: Yes! Here’s the info:

By phone: Call Threads of Life at 1-888-567-9490 and make a donation by credit card

By mail: Fill in a donation form and send a cheque or money order to: Threads of Life, P.O. Box 9066, 1795 Ernest Ave, London, ON N6E 2V0

 

Q: How will the funds raised at this event be spent?

A: All proceeds from the Steps for Life events support the Threads of Life Family Support Program. See how Threads of Life puts Steps for Life dollars to work at www.threadsoflife.ca.

 

Q: Is there a cost to participate?

A: Registration for Steps for Life is by donation. This event is a fundraiser after all, and making a donation right when you register is a great first step in your fundraising campaign.

Q: Do infectious diseases, viruses (including COVID-19), affect my participation in the event?

A: Threads of Life promotes health and safety for each participant and encourages you to follow your local community health guidelines. If you are feeling unwell, we encourage you to participate at home instead, or be sure to keep your distance or wear a mask. If wearing a mask is your preference, we welcome you to do so!

 

Q: What is your Privacy Policy?

A: The Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support (known as Threads of Life) respects your privacy. We never sell, trade, or lend your information to any other organization. We will use your information only for follow-up contacts (such as sending our newsletter), statistical purposes, and to process and recognize your donations. We disclose your information only to our own employees and agents and only to accomplish the purposes listed above.

Please note that your name and contact information are optional. If you do not wish to be identified, please enter “Anonymous” for both the first and last name.
