Hockey for a cause!
Dear Friends and Family,
As you know, hockey has been a love of mine since I switched over from figure skating in high school. :) It's provided me exercise, great teammates, life long friends, competition, and lessons about winning and losing gracefully. And it's provided me this opportunity. For the fourth and final time, I will be playing in the 4th Women’s Charity Beanpot Challenge in our attempt to raise $40,000 in support of the Travis Roy Foundation (TRF).
For over 20 years, the TRF has raised money for its two-pronged mission of assisting spinal cord injury survivors in their daily lives by provide adaptive equipment grants and of funding cutting-edge medical research. With Travis' death in 2020 from surgical complications, but really from the effects of living for over 25 years in a wheelchair, the TRF will halt its fundraising efforts later this year, continue to support the scientific research in progress to their conclusion, and to give grants to individuals who have suffered spinal cord injuries and who need help with things to make their new lives easier - things like lifts to get out of bed, technology to help those who can't type email, ramps to get into their homes and the like - until the funds run out.
Please give as generously as you are able, in memory of Travis. My lofty goal is to raise over $1500. And while I'm aiming high, please know that any amount helps and is so greatly appreciated - by the TRF and by me!
Thank you in advance for your generosity,
